Nanakuli is a feline who was rescued and now resides in Honolulu, Hawaii. This adorable furball was adopted when he was just a tiny kitten and severely malnourished, tipping the scales at only one pound. Unfortunately, poor Nanakuli had to undergo surgery to remove an infected eye. Following the operation, his owners, Alexandra Gomez and Krista Littleton, were pleasantly surprised when the little kitty began enjoying regular baths. Not long after, they decided to teach him how to swim, which he took to like a fish to water. Despite his name meaning “to look blind,” Kuli has become quite the expert in riding waves. According to Alexandra, “Although he started off life very weak and malnourished, he has grown very quickly into a very tolerant cat and loves the water.” Check out the delightful pictures of this one-eyed surfer kitty enjoying his aquatic adventures in Hawaii!
Around a year back, Kuli was introduced to surfing by his owners Alexandra Gomez and Krista Littleton when he took his first plunge into the water.
Water doesn’t seem to bother him much, and it’s likely because his owners would give him baths during his recovery from eye surgery.
Initially, he had his encounter with a longboard. Later, his owners made him try out a boogie board to let him hold onto it with his claws.
They made a purchase of a surfboard that would allow Kuli to accompany them on their surfing trips.
Kuli was given his name because it signifies “to appear sightless.”
Kuli used to wear a life jacket until he gained confidence in swimming on his own.
